Circuit City

It's sad but Circuit City is closing for good because of the wonderful economy of ours.  They are going to be closing their remaining 500 stores.

I bought my first CD walkman from Circuit City in 1989.  It's very sad to see them go.

Broken Rocker

Well it finally happened.  I broke a chair.  Actually it has happened before.  It's an old chair so leave me alone lol.  This chair that was in Chips moms room that she's had for a long time, when she passed away we put it in the living room.  It's not a rocking chair, it's a regular chair that rocks.  A rocking chair would be all wood, this has fabric and springs etc.

What makes the chair rock are these 2 giant springs that are attached to 2 pieces of wood at the bottom of the chair and the springs are also attached to the chair.  Well, a year ago the springs broke where it's welded, 1 spring broke and we asked our neighbor Dan who worked in a shop if he would reweld it for us because that's what he does.  So he did and then the other spring broke in the same way and so he fixed that too.  Well, it didn't take long before one of them broke again but we never had him fix it a 2nd time.  The other spring just broke at the weld again so we're retiring that chair lol.

I'm just too heavy to be able to sit in an old chair and rock it.  If it were a new(ish) chair like a recliner chair then I'm sure it would be a lot better.  This one made so many noises when I would rock in it, like squeeking sounds, you know because the springs needed oil or something.  I've sprayed WD40 on them and they didn't stop squeeking.  But I've sat in recliner chairs at the furniture stores and they never squeeked.

I would love to get a new chair but I just can't afford it, even a used one.  So, I moved the rocking chair and put a regular chair in it's place so now no more rocking hehe.  Oh well.

Bridezillas

I was just watching Bridezillas on WE.  Why?  Don't ask.  But omg these women are either classless or nuts.  This one woman couldn't stop yelling at everyone.  If she could only see herself.  One of the things she said was "this isn't his wedding, it's my wedding".  LOL ok.  If I was the guy getting married to her I would've told her to get married by herself because this isn't just her day, it's his day too.

Frankly I don't see why people are in such a hurry to get married and why it's such a big deal that they have to spend thousands upon thousands of dollars that they don't really have.  You could just have a simple wedding at home or at a relatives house who has a large back yard where you can just buy groceries and cook a buffet meal and bake your own cake.  And why spend thousands of dollars on a wedding dress you are only going to wear once.  Just get a nice wedding dress that is under a hundred that you can actually afford.

A lot of people can't get married you know so I think that they should think about how lucky they are that their wedding is actually acceptable to society before they act so high and mighty about being in such a hurry to get married.  I don't know the numbers but a lot of marriages end in divorce, especially the rushed ones.

Naughty Words on TV

I've been watching TV for a very long time.  At least 36 of my 38 years that I can remember.  I remember when I Love Lucy couldn't say 1 bad word.  It actually wasn't until the 80's when the Golden Girls started saying Bitch.  Then before you know it, cop dramas started saying Shit.  Hey, if they can say it on TV, then I can say it in here.

The cartoon South Park says a lot of bad words like God Damn.  They say it all the time.  That's like the ultimate bad word because it has God in it.  You can't say that on tv.  Well, apparently they can because they do and they've carried it over to every other show on tv.

Now, this word I know isn't a bad word, in fact it's just silly.  Douche Nozzle.  I've been calling people a douche bag for years since I was in junior high school, even though I had no clue what it was until high school.  But you know, people have been saying that as long as douche's have been around I'm sure.

Last night, on Knight Rider, the female lead Sarah called Michael a douche nozzle lol.  I was like OMG I can't believe she just said that.  Yeah I've heard it in the movies but I've never heard it on TV coming from a woman.  And I don't mean that to sound like a double standard so I don't want to get emails or bad comments but you know, I was shocked to hear it from HER.  LOL

Credit Scams

I've been getting these phone calls from credit companies trying to recover a huge amount of money from a person with the same name as mine as well as this persons wife named Amanda McDonald.  Well, I can safely say that I am not married or dating a woman named Amanda or any other woman's name for that matter.

Last year I got a call from one of those places that give you money when you give them a check and they hold the check until your next payday.  I never ever go to those places at all.

Also last year I got a call saying I owed $50,000 which I know I don't owe.  I told them that I don't owe them and it's not me and I was stupid enough to give them the last 4 digits of my social security number.

Yesterday I got a call and they said my name and I said yes and then she said Amanda and I said you know what, there is no Amanda McDonald here, there never was and never will be, you got the wrong person.  The lady said thank you and hung up.

Well, about an hour ago I got a phone call saying that I owe money for a Suzuki car.  Uh, I don't think so.  I never learned how to drive and I definitely don't have a drivers license.  I definitely do not have a Suzuki vehicle and if I did they could come and repossess it, but I don't have one so they are SOL.

Thankfully I am a member of LifeLock and I called them up to tell them what happened and they told me that there are a lot of people out there who are trying to scam you out of your money and because of today's economy they can't make money any other way but to try to steal it from other people.  They send me a credit report from all 3 credit bureau's every year and there was nothing on it the last time and the woman from LifeLock said that I should be getting another one in a month and half so if it's not there (the car) then don't worry about it, it's probably a scam.

Don't listen to phone(y) people because they are most likely lying to you to get your money.  They will try to convince you to give them your social security number to verify their claim but you cannot give that number to them.  The only way you should ever give that information out is if you called them.  What you should do is ask them what company they are calling from then look it up on the internet and then call them.  If they don't respond then hang up.  If there is a phone number listed on the caller ID then call the police and give them that number and they can investigate it.  If it says Unknown Caller or Private Caller that is also a way to know that it's fake.  This call I got today said Unknown.  A credit company will have their name and number on your Caller ID.  Don't be fooled into giving away your good name.

Thank you Pepsi

photo715Last week, the American Family Association launched a boycott of PepsiCo. The AFA boycott is based, in part, on the PepsiCo Foundation's support of PFLAG’s Straight for Equality in the Workplace project.

I got this email today from PFLAG saying to call the Pepsi Company to thank them and tell them that I will only buy Pepsi products from now on because I am a PFLAG member.

I will, but before I do I would just like to rant about something.  Why is it that the AFA hates gay people so much?  I mean, what did we do to them but be gay?  We didn't hurt their chances of having equal rights like they did us.  So why are they boycotting a company for saying hey, we like gay people and we support them in the work place?  All gay people ever wanted was equal rights, to be treated like a human being and not be told that we can't have a piece of paper that says that we are joined together as one.  That we can do our taxes as a couple and not individuals.

I'm just really confused.  Is this not the year 2009?  Have gay people been around throughout time?  Yes they have.  Michelangelo was gay.  I can't think right now of all the gay people throughout history but there is record of gay people all throughout time.  Did you know that gay people were in the concentration camps in WWII?  Yes, where do you think the pink triangle came from?  While the jews wore a star of david to show that they are jewish, the gay people were forced to wear a pink triangle to show they were homosexual.  And did you know that during this time the jews treated the gays the same exact way the germans did?  Oh yes my friend, gay people have been persecuted as long as there has been persecution.

In the 1970's gay people reclaimed the triangle, turned it upside down and used it as a symbol.  So this I tell the AFA.  We're here, we're queer, get used to it cause we're not going away.  Gay people have been around since the dawn of time and we're going to be here until the end of time so get over it.
