Ghost Whisperer

Since I missed Ghost Whisperer tonight because I was watching Ghost Hunters (gotta watch something with ghosts hehe) I have to watch Ghost Whisperer on the internet.  But just in case I forget where I found it I'm going to embed it here.

Ghost Hunters Halloween Live

This is the 3rd annual live episode of Ghost Hunters.  It's a 7 hour investigation beginning at 7pm and ending at 2am.  The following wednesday night episode will be a follow up to show the results of all the EVP and videos from the cameras and the flir.

Tonight the team revisits Fort Delaware in Delaware City to probe the former Civil War post. Guests Amanda Tapping and Mike "The Miz" Mizanin join the hunt. Hosts: Josh Gates and Steve Valentine.

So far after the first 6 minutes they already starting having issues with production.  All of a sudden the screen went snowy bringing back old memories of before cable was invented and you had to fiddle with the "rabbit ears".  Also when Josh Gates was talking to Amanda Tapping and The Miz you couldn't hear them talking.  You could hear Josh but not the other 2.  You could hear a lot of Josh's voice echoing though and hearing Amanda talking sounded like an EVP, you could barely understand what she was saying.  The only people who were able to get what she said were lip readers.

It took about 45 minutes before they actually started doing their investigation which is fine because they showed the tour of the property and they showed how they got there which looks like it must've cost a lot of money, like you could probably buy a decent house in a rich neighborhood for the amount of money that they spent.

Once they went in the camera started messing up and they had just started.  It kept freezing up.  They could've switched over to Steve just until they got it all squared away but they kept going hoping it would clear up which eventually it did.

I also noticed on the Flir that they are 13 minutes ahead of us which means someone set the clocks ahead.  Of course I'm on the west coast so they are 3 hours ahead so it isn't live for me but still, they were 13 min ahead for the east coasters too.

The cameras are messing up again.  It just happens to Jay and Grant but I think it's because of the walls of where they are walking through.  They are after all in the dungeons.  You can't expect good quality video down there.

Edit:  Sci-Fi channel keeps popping up these ads at the bottom of the screen.  Now I realize they won't be showing a lot of commercials like they normally would, 15 - 17 min of commercials per hour, but the pop up's are starting to get annoying.  I mean, they could make them smaller.  They take up 1/4 of the screen at the bottom every few minutes.  It reminds me of pop up ads on the internet except I can't click them off.

I've stayed up for the entire 7 hour investigation despite the fact that I woke up at 4am and couldn't go back to sleep.  I am sooooo tired lol.  I made a pot of coffee about 2 hours ago and of course I ran out of equal and sugar so this is my last cup.  There is only 20 more minutes left of the show so I'm going to tape my eyelids open, I got the tooth picks on hold just in case lol.

So far all that has happened is a strong authoritative male voice telling Jay and Grant "You aren't supposed to be here".  That's all that I've noticed so far.  Josh said there were some other sounds like footsteps and knocking but I didn't hear it.  I can't wait to see the episode on Wednesday that will reveal all the evidence they found.

Ghost Hunters Marathon

Wow there have been a couple of episodes that I have never seen today on Sci-Fi.  I've been watching the marathon since 8am and it's almost 6pm, the last 2 episodes I haven't seen before.  I was very impressed in some EVP's from a hotel in Washington (episode called "Ghostly Conversation").

There was a room that a princess always stayed in when she visited the hotel, she even brought her own bed with her everytime she came and she died there so the bed stayed there too.  Jay and Grant were in the room asking questions and the Princess was responding right away.  Of course you can only hear her respond on the EVP, you couldn't hear her in real time.  That's the bad thing about doing this is you can only hear them on digital tape and not for real.  It's still really cool though.

Facebook

I've been able to add my RSS2 to Facebook so now friends on Facebook can see my recent blogs when they visit my Facebook page.  YAY!

I voted!

Well I finally finished filling out my ballot today.  We are cutting it very close because we are a mail only district and in order for our ballots to count we have to send them in early enough but all those props were so confusing that I just couldn't understand them.  Some of them I could understand like 1a, 2, 3 and 8.  All of those I was able to understand.  Also there were some offices that I had no clue who the people were because I haven't seen any commercials for them.  They can't expect me to vote for them if they don't give me an idea who they are.  Actually, I have seen some commercials but they didn't put a huge impact on me.  I don't watch the local debates.

Anyway, finally finished it and it's going in the mail today, hopefully they will get it tomorrow then it will be counted by Monday so that on Tuesday my vote will count.

Huge anticipation

My body must've been very excited about Halloween today because I woke up at 1am but luckily was able to go back to sleep.  Then I woke up again at 4am but was not able to go back to sleep.  Around 5am I went to the ATM machine to get a $20 to give to the milk man.  I was lucky that Chip insisted on going with me because when I went to the ATM a thug looking guy was walking towards me but when he saw Chip he went in another direction.

At 6:20am I left to go to the grocery store to buy some coffee and some candy bars for the neighbors kids, they are 5 for $2.00 right now so that was a good deal.  I didn't want to buy a big bag because I'm not going to pass out candy to the kids who don't wear costumes and the kids who don't even live in our neighborhood.  So I just bought 5 candy bars for our neighbors kids Devan, Dougie, Beth and Gracie and the 5th one will go to Karens nephew if he is with them, he's been spending a lot of time there so maybe he will be trick or treating with them.

After I left Albertson's I went over to McDonald's and bought us some breakfast.  Sorry Sue, they didn't have any Monopoly tickets lol.

8am came and Ghost Hunters finally came on and I'm going to watch that the entire day WOOHOO!

Halloween is almost here

Halloween is almost here and since I will be watching TV all day I thought I'd blog today.  HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Biking

Riding the bike is getting a lot easier.  I rode the bike from my house to Oak and Palm before realizing I didn't stop for water once so naturally I stopped for some water.  I got all the way to the park in 19 1/2 minutes this time which is I think 3 minutes faster.  Probably because I didn't stop to take a water break so many times.

I also didn't sit on the picnic table for that long either, on Monday I think I sat there for 20 minutes before heading back home and this time I think it was like 10 or 15 minutes.

When coming home I didn't turn right on H st. going on 21st st.  Instead I went further down to Chester Ave. because H st. has no bike lane in downtown Bakersfield but Chester Ave. does.  I think it's easier to ride in a bike lane than cause an accident, don't you?

So, I went a further distance and it was only 40 minutes this time.  The last time it was 45 minutes and this time I went a further distance which tells me that 1 I'm going faster and 2 my legs are getting more used to riding that I don't have to stop to take a break for them.

I can remember not too long ago that I could only ride up to California Ave. and back and that was like 12 minutes and when I came home I could barely walk because of the stiffness in my legs.  If I am able to go faster and further then that just means that I will start to lose weight a lot faster.  I can already see it in my face that the fat is starting to come off.

If I can just keep doing this 3 days a week it wont be long before I'm thinner.  Oh and I need to start following the SparkPeople food plan again if I'm going to be successful.  The food they have is low calorie and very good for us especially for Chip because he has borderline diabetes now so whatever I make for myself I can make for him too then before you know it he will be losing weight too (but just on food, he doesn't want to exercise).

PlayStation Store

Well Sony finally finished the PlayStation store for the PSP.  Instead of buying stuff on their website they gave everyone Media Manager for PSP 3.0.  I bought Media Manager for PSP 2.0 for $20 or $25, I forgot.  But I guess it's ok because this is an upgrade and I don't have to pay to upgrade it.

If you have a PSP you don't need to use this to buy and download games.  All you do is just go online with the PSP and go to the PlayStation Store.  That is if you have WiFi access at home.  If you don't then you don't have any other choice than to use the Media Manager with a USB cable.  However if you want to buy/rent movies or tv shows you can only download them using the Media Manager.  They don't offer this feature on the PSP.  I've been looking at it since the firmware update.

The only problem with this is that in order to buy a lot of the games or movies/tv shows you must have more than just 1GB memory stick.  They offer 16GB from San Disk now and they really aren't that much money.  Some games and movies are more than just 1GB so you have to have a 4GB, 8GB or 16GB memory stick for those.  The good news is that you can transfer games/movies/tv shows to your computer or maybe to a dvd-r and when you aren't going to play the games or watch the movies etc you can just delete them from your memory stick so you can make room for other things.  Or if you have a disposible income just buy many memory sticks.

To Beach Park

Well, I finally made it to Beach Park today.  I feel so good about myself that I actually did it.  I also noticed that I'm riding a little faster because the time it took me to get there and back was a lot shorter than it took me to go less distance.

Ok so according to SparkPeople that is 5.4 miles total (to there and back, I mapped the directions out on google) and 720 calories.  The minimum amount of calories that I should burn in 1 day is 260, I mean for my diet plan, so I've exceeded that.  Which is totally awesome.

As I was riding the bike over the very high and very long bridge on Oak St. I was expecting that I wouldn't make it because the one other time I tried going over I didn't make it, I ended up having to stop and walk most of the way up.  But it wasn't so difficult this time.  Also when I was coming home I was riding on H st. on the street under the bridge and what I did was I just peddled so fast as I was going down so that when I had to start coming up I didn't have to peddle at all because I was already going so fast.

Anyway, my legs are swollen and painful so I'm gonna go lay down.

Tomorrows Goal

Tomorrow morning I'm not going to wake up to an alarm clock telling me that I have to get up at the butt crack of dawn to go bike riding.  Instead I'm just going to wake up when I wake up then I'm going to have something to eat, maybe a bowl of corn flakes, then wait a little while maybe an hour, they say to eat 1 hour before exercising.  I wouldn't want to give myself a cramp.  Then I'm going to do some stretches for my legs and then get on my bike and go to Beach Park.  This time I have a goal to get there and then collapse onto the grass and rest while listening to my music for a bit, maybe call Chip and tell him I made it.  Give my legs enough time to rest so I can make it all the way back home.

I think this is a good strategy.  See the reason I haven't made it all the way there yet is because I kinda figured I'd get there then immediately go home without stopping and it was just too much for my legs.  But all I have to do is think about it in a different way and then I can do it.  I need to do this.  Then I can say hey I made it all the way to beach park and I collapsed on the grass and gave my legs enough time to rest before getting up, I looked at how pretty it is and I looked at the bike path but I will save the bike path for another time.  Yeah, that's what I'll say.

The one thing I need is encouragement to do it.  Well, on that note I think I shall go to bed and rest up for tomorrow.  This is good because it's only 11:12pm and not 2am lol.

Getting ready for ride

Just a couple more hours before Sergio, my neighbor, comes a knockin on my door to go bike riding to Beach Park.  I'm positive that I can make it all that way but once I get there I have to stop and rest before going back home.  I'm actually looking forward to actually making it all that way.  I really don't know why I always punk out when I do go on my bike ride.  I mean, it's actually a very good idea to go all the way there, this way I can stop and lay down on the grass for a bit to give me the energy I need to go back home.

I bought a new pair of sunglasses at Walgreens this morning for $10.  They are the wrap around kind, the sports sunglasses.  I've had 2 other pair but both have broken and I've ended up having no choice but to throw them away.  It's my own fault for breaking them though so this new pair I plan to keep with my helmet and only wear when bike riding.  This way I'm not  having to hold them while I'm at the store and accidentally break them lol.  That's what happened to the last pair.  Oops.

I've been doing laundry last night and today so I have clean clothes to wear.  Normally when I go on my bike ride it's in the morning and I don't ride with anybody so I just put on sweat pants and my hoodie sweater along with thermal underwear because when I go by myself it's usually when the sun is coming up.  But since it's a little warmer in the daytime I had to wash and dry my shorts and since I can't wear my hoodie then I need a nice clean shirt that isn't too tight, isn't too loose.

Going to have lunch now before I go.

Edit:  I waited until 3:15 because he said he would come to my door but never did so at 3:15 I went to his house and he said he just woke up and had to get in the shower because a friend called and is on his way so the bike was a no go hehe.

Scheduled ride

Tonight I tried out my new light by riding over to the neighbors house, it's like 5 houses away so it allowed me to see the lights turn on without having to go too far.  He was outside on his porch so I stayed for a few minutes and chatted.  He told me that we should go on a bike ride tomorrow at 3pm over to Beach Park.  Well, all I can say is good luck to him and his goal hehe.  I'm not quite sure I can make it that far but we will see.  It's actually not that far from the point that I usually just turn around and go home so here is to keeping a goal.  If it works out I will blog (uh, duh, I blog about everything lol).

Light Set for Bike

My light set finally came today.  I bought it exactly a week ago on Saturday and it came today which is a Saturday hehe.  That's ok, I wasn't too empatient... NOT!

I installed it immediately and almost right away I ran into a huge snag.  The headlight could be installed in 1 of 3 locations.  2 places on the handlebars, the screw on top that you use to adjust the handlebars but that screw doesn't come out.  You unscrew it and it is connected to the bottom of the pipe to tighten the handlebars so when you adjust it to go up or down it tightens.  Then there is a screw in the middle of the handlebars in the front that you use to adjust the handlebars to tilt them up or down.  That screw comes out but it was too thick to go into the hole for the light bracket.

So my only alternative was the brakes.  As soon as I took the screws off the brakes I messed things up.  The diagram shows that you have to remove the brakes and put the light behind them so it's all the way in the back which I was able to do no problem.  But when I went to replace the brakes and tightened the nuts the brakes wouldn't work.  They were locked in place.  I didn't put it back on right and the way the spring is on there you cannot put something behind it.  It's just not done.  So I had to take the light off and figure out how to get the brakes back on right which I eventually did.  I got the manual out but couldn't find it in there.  It then occured to me to look at the back brakes to see how they are installed lol DUH.  Anyway, I got them back on and put the light in the very front of the brakes.  It's all good now.

The generator got put in place and so did the back light.  It all works.  Although I can't really tell in the daytime, I have to ride it when the sun goes down to see how well it all works.  From what I remember when I was a teenager and having this same light system the lights aren't very bright when you are riding a normal speed which I guess is 10mph.  When you are going down hill the lights turn on bright because you picked up speed.  So it makes sense that when you go faster the lights go brighter.  And of course as soon as you stop the lights turn off.

I'm just glad to have it finally so I was able to check that off my wish list for the bike.

Holiday Themes

As you can already see, I'm using a theme for my blog that is a Halloween theme.  I think it's pretty neat.  As soon as Halloween is over and on November 1st I'm just going to put it back to the dark red that I had before.  I couldn't find a Thanksgiving theme but I've found at least 3 Christmas themes and I already know which one I'm going to use.  So the day after Thanksgiving I'm going to put the Christmas theme in place.

It's so much easier to change the theme in a php based blog than it is to change it on my website.

Edit: I took off the Halloween theme because it removes the pages that I made for like Wish List and Before You Comment and About.  The themes that don't remove those pages removes the comments on those pages.  I don't like that.  So I guess I will just keep this theme instead.

Proof of Ownership

Ok.  You are going to laugh.  I went to Albertson's on my bike and I have one of those locks that is like telephone cord that is curly and it has a 4 number combination that you can set the numbers for and when I got to the store I went to lock it and as I was pushing the lock together I felt and heard a clicking sound and as I was pushing it in I knew I messed up big time.  I immediately tried pulling it out and it wouldn't budge.  I started freaking out.  I started trying different combinations because I thought that I turned the dial to set it then accidentally turned a number as I was pushing it in, which I have done before.  I had no luck.

I went into the store and told the lady at the information counter (she sells lottery tickets, cigarettes, electronics and does the photo stuff) and told her what happened and she called Jim to call her and told him what happened.  This other lady came up and I told her what happened and she said that she knows I come in here a lot but how do they know it's my bike.  Luckily, I have the paper work with the serial number and the manual with the model of the bike on it as well as the reciept and I even took a picture of it.  WHEW!

So Jim finally came to the front with bolt cutters and I showed him my paper work which he didn't actually look at because I think he figured if I took the time to get someone to bring it to me and I was showing it to him then he believed that it was indeed my bike.  So, he tried cutting it and it was really hard for him to cut it but eventually he did get it off.  It made me feel good that he couldn't get it off because I knew I had a good lock.  But on the other hand...  I wanted my bike back lol.

He told me that if I didn't have this proof of ownership then it would've sat there until someone tried to claim it and then eventually they would've had to call a company out to get it and auction it or something.  So I'm very glad I bought my bike at a store and not at a thrift store with no manual and no reciept.  And I'm especially glad that I took a picture of it too.

Here are some pictures of the lock.  The first one is where he tried to cut but it just wouldn't cut then the 2nd one is where he finally got it cut.

Directory Assistance

Do not call 411!  Get a phone book for crying out loud.  Are you that lazy?  There is also a free 411 that you can call that doesn't cost you a dime, all you have to do is listen to an advertisement which is less than 30 seconds out of your day.  1-800-free-411.

Here are the facts about 411.  I just got my phone bill and it shows 3 411 calls billed at $1.50 each for a total of $4.50.  You are allowed 1 free 411 call now.  Before it used to be 3 free 411 calls but now it's just 1.  But that's not all.  They have also itemized it in Local Toll category with 661-411-0000 which brings that total up to $5.97 so for 3 411 calls it cost me total $10.47.  That's $10 too much.  For 3 calls!  Get it?  Look below.  I pasted directly from my bill just in case you don't believe me.

Why is it so hard to just pick up a phone book? They waste so much paper and kill so many trees so that you may look up a phone number for free. You can also go on your computer and look it up at www.yellow.com or www.yellowpagesonline.com or whatever.  But for god sake, stop using 411!

UPDATE:  It's best if you go to Google's 411 service.  Read the blog for that here.

Prop 8 Will Hurt Me Directly

I need to ask for your help. There is an unfair ballot proposition that, if passed, will take away my fundamental rights. This is really important to me. Will you help me defeat Prop. 8?

Prop. 8 would eliminate the right to marry for same-sex couples. I trust you agree that eliminating fundamental rights - from anyone - is just wrong.

I hope you are already planning to vote NO. If you are, there are three things you can do below.

But just in case you're unsure, I want you to know the real deal.

Virtually every major paper in California is against Prop 8. The L.A. Times says it is "a drastic step to strip people of rights." La Opinión called Prop 8 "an unnecessary initiative". The San Diego Union Tribune wrote that Prop 8 "offends many Californians' sense of fairness."

If that doesn't convince you, I hope you'll email me so we can talk about this.

If you plan to vote NO, there are a few easy things to help ensure it is defeated.

1.  Email everyone you know and care about and get them to help us defeat Prop 8.  Send them a message at  http://noonprop8.com/messages?r=friend.  You can quickly and easily send messages.
2.  Make a donation. The other side has raised over $10 million more than us.  They are using their war chest to spread lies and misinformation. Your donation will help us reach undecided voters who need to hear that Prop. 8 is wrong and unfair. http://noonprop8.com/donate?r=friend
3.  Volunteer your time. Sign up to call undecided voters or help out in field offices across the state. http://noonprop8.com/volunteer?r=friend

Thank you for doing all you can to defeat Prop. 8.

Here are some videos that I personally have not seen on TV and I really don't know why.

A Green Life

A few weeks ago we came home from San Diego after only being gone for a few days and discovered that someone had taken our garbage can.  The city wants to charge us $60 for a new one.  It hit me below the belt because it made me think that I do take it for granted.  Trash that is.  We normally just save soda cans and soda bottles and give them to the dumpster divers but we decided to start recycling them for ourselves.

I took it a step further though and instead of just soda bottles and cans I'd look at the back of every container we buy and those cans that food come in are recyclable too and so are milk containers.  Paper can also be recycled.  I set up 2 paper bags with the cans (1 bag for each type of can) and I'm going to set up another bag for shredded paper which I am now going to start shredding the mail along with junk mail and even bad ideas that I've printed.  I have so much paper just sitting around in notebooks that have absolutely no purpose anymore so those will be shredded straight away.

I've also become green when I shower.  When you live in a trailer or if go camping and have one of those hanging bags of water for showers you have to use the least you can use so you have enough water for yourself and others so you get wet, turn off the hose, lather your hair and body then turn the hose back on to rinse off.  Well, I've started doing that at home.  I don't know exactly how many gallons of water I am saving but I bet you it's a lot.

I started riding my bike for exercise, not to get anywhere in particular but so I can lose weight and so that's good that I'm doing that but it really serves no green purpose for me.  But it's at least a statement.

And we do have to drive our car to the recycling center just to recycle all this stuff.  I can't carry bags of cans, bottles and tied up newspaper and bags of shredded paper on a bike so we have no other choice.  I feel I'm at least helping.

Below are pictures of my cans bags and a trash bag of bottles which is a new bag so it only has a couple bottles but you get the idea.

Spam

I just love spam.  I much prefer it after I've fried it in the skillet so it's a little greasy and it's a little scorched.  Although it cooks good in a toaster oven as well.  Then I put mayo on 2 slices of bread and eat it like a sandwich.

The spam that I do hate is the ones that come with links and gibberish in the form of comments on my blog.  Although I do appreciate the fact that someone out there took the time to look at my blog, I think... or maybe it was a bot who found my blog site and started posting junk.  I don't know.  All I know is I much prefer it in the form of a sammich.

Light System

I checked the tracking today from USPS for my light system for my bike and it was brought there to the post office on Monday but they didn't ship it out until today.  So basically they sat on it for 2 days.  That's fine though because it did say 2 to 9 days and it is the post office and not UPS or something so I don't expect it right away.  I am actually glad it isn't going to be here tomorrow because we both have doctors appointments tomorrow.  Chip is going in to find out what the new tests for his diabetes will be.  I'm afraid that it might come while we aren't there and they are going to leave it to get stolen.  So, hopefully I'll get it Friday or Saturday instead.

Lego Batman

I'm unable to play Lego Batman on my PSP too often because my hands get numb so fast.  I usually play it during the commercials of my shows then turn it off (sleep mode) when the show comes back on.  This way I can play it and wont get numb because I'm only playing it for 2 minutes at a time.  It is frustrating though that I can't play it for hours at a time lol.  It's a fun game.

Laptop upgrades

I was thinking, since I don't have to buy a new light for my bike for $50 that I might look to see how much a new laptop hard drive would be for my old Dell Inspiron 1100 and what do you know? they cost $50 for 160gb.  I also found 1GB ram for only $30.  I'm seriously thinking about getting the hard drive but then wait until next month for the memory.  I really want to upgrade my laptop because it's soooooo slow and it never has any space for anything.  It's only a 20GB hard drive and with windows installed and nothing else there is only 8GB available for programs and some of the programs I have take up a lot of space.  I'd also like to install EQ on there and I can't because there is no space for it and with only 256mb of ram it's not fast enough for EQ.

Mini Pump

When I got my Dell DJ battery, pump and bike frame bag in the mail on the same day I blogged about how none of them were the right size, the mini pump was the right size, it's just that the gauge wasn't working right.

Well, last night I was pumping some air into my tires and I was looking at the numbers on the gauge.  I was thinking that the needle was going to up a lot, near the red but that wasn't the case at all.  The number 20 is like really close to where the needle starts and I only need to put in 20.7 psi and the needle was at the 20 mark.  I thought I had to make the needle go near wh ere the red was lol.  I guess I was wrong, way wrong and the pump does what it is supposed to do.  Thank goodness.

PlayStation Store

Well I guess the new firmware update for the PSP was yesterday, I guess I missed it.  I've been so focused on the PlayStation Store website on the PC that I didn't even notice that it is already on the PSP.  It's so awesome too because now when I want to download a demo, wallpaper or game or whatever they have all I have to do is turn on the PSP and go right there.  I no longer have to plug my PSP into the computer to download it.

They also added a cool new keyboard instead of having 12 buttons like a phone where you have to press each button 4 times to get 1 letter like you do with a cell phone.  So annoying.  Now the new keyboard thing makes more sense.  To use the symbols and go caps all you do is click the shift button.  Like the old style the triangle button is your space key and the square button is the delete.  Below is a picture I took of the new keyboard.

Bidding

I'm bidding on a Bicycle Generated Light System for my bike.  It's starting bid is only $4.99 and my max bid is $10 so I hope I win.  It's basically the same as the other one I talked about yesterday but just a different person is selling it and it's probably a different brand.  It looks brand new because it looks like the packaging is still in tact.  This is what it looks like...

Update:  I won this item for $6.74, shipping is free.  It was $4.99 but in the last half hour of the auction someone made it go up to $6.74, my highest bid was $10 which is why I won.  But I have a feeling that this seller created a 2nd screen name on ebay to raise the price for shipping purposes.  Which is fine, I don't care.  It says on the page that shipping is free and it says local pick up so I have a feeling it's free if you are in the same city but if you ask him about it then he raises the bidding amount to cover the cost.  I did ask him about it (or her, I don't know) but got no response.  I sure do hope I get a response.  If it doesn't show up in the next week then I can give negative feedback but I have a feeling I will get it because this person has 100% positive feedback.  He/she wouldn't do anything to ruin that.

Rain

Well I'm sure glad I went out early hehe.  It's sprinkling a little.  When I left I noticed there were a lot of rain clouds in the sky but I didn't think anything of it.  If I were stuck in the pouring rain I would've been pissed lol.  Although, it would've given me the chance to get out of the rain and let my legs heal a little before riding some more.  Good thing I was wearing my hoodie sweater.

38 Minutes

I went bike riding this morning just as the sun was coming up.  I don't recall the time, it was before 7am though.  Instead of stopping at California Ave and turning right and going back home, this time I decided to keep going to Truxton and turn left to go to Oak St. which is the way to get to Beach Park where the bike path is at.

I went to Oak but had to turn around and come back home because I'm so heavy that as I was riding my bike I could tell that my seat was going down because my legs were no longer straight when my pedal was all the way down.  They were bending still and when I left the house they were straight.  So I'm so heavy that I'm pushing my seat down which is not good.  Next time I go on a ride I have to raise the seat again.  I have a feeling that until I lose this website I'm gonna have to keep raising the seat everytime.

That's ok I guess.  I'm just happy that I rode a longer distance than before.  38 minutes is a lot longer than 14 minutes.  I also rode for 4.2 miles total.  I checked it out on Google Maps.  Go me!

By the way, I was so close to Beach Park, like 5 blocks from it.  I was so close I could have tasted it.  I had no idea that I was that close either.  If I knew I was that close I would've tried harder to get there.  At least they had water so I could've refilled my bottle lol.  I ran out just as I was getting closer to the house.  That only tells me I need to bring the bigger bottle next time lol.

Edit: I went to Spark People to add my cardio for today and 38 min at 10 mph (I don't know what my speed is as I don't have a bike odometer and 10 mph is the lowest they have so it's my only option) and that is 342 calories burned.  The total for the whole week is 87 of 90 min that they require you to do and 783 of 780 calories burned.  They only want you to do exercise cause they are there to tell you what you need to do to get thin.  You aren't "required" to do anything you don't want to in which case you don't have to sign up on their website.  But anyway, my point is that I exceeded the amount of calories for the whole week but I was still 3 minutes shy of the amount of time.  That's fine though because next week will be double because I was so close to Beach Park that next time I will actually make it there and maybe even get to ride on the bike path for a little while.  I might end up doing the entire 90 min for the entire week in just 2 sessions.

Missed Appointment

On September 30th I had a follow up appointment with the neurologist for my carpel tunnel syndrome but since we were in San Diego I called the doctors office and rescheduled my appointment for today at 12:00pm.  Well, at 2:20pm I realized I had missed my appointment.  My main concern was that they charge you for missed appointments.

I called them to ask if there was a way that I could still make it and they said no, the doctor doesn't take patients past 12.  So I then asked how much this was going to cost me.  I was put on hold for about 1 or 2 minutes.  She came back and said that I wasn't even on the computer for today.  WHEW!!!

I don't know how much that would've cost me but I do know that I couldn't pay it right now.  She rescheduled me for November 20th so it's going to be some time that I have to wait.  On the bright side my carpel tunnel syndrome isn't that bad.  My hands still get numb when I'm playing with my PSP or riding my bike for a long period of time, then again they get numb after 10 min of riding my bike so it's not that long.  Oh well, I got a month heh.

Picture of My Bike

By the way, here is a picture of my bike as is.  Not including any lights that is.  It has the frame bag with the tire repair kit, mini pump and hex tools.  The cup isn't there but it's black so you wouldn't see it but if you look hard enough you can see the cage that the cup goes in.  Yes, the bag is big but the cup does still fit in it.  And as you can see my helmet.  To see full size click the image below.

Bike Lights

When I was 16 my parents bought me a bicycle so I can get to work a lot easier and they won't have to drive me.  The bike was a cruiser bike and since I would be riding at night I would need lights and all I can remember is that I thought my stepdad was so cheap by buying me the kind with a generator.  I didn't need batteries because it generated light as I rode.  However, if you think about it, this is probably a very good idea because batteries cost a lot of money.

If you buy lights that are rechargable they are very expensive.  Yeah the lighting is a lot brighter and probably better but they cost a lot of money.  And I'm talking $200+.

I have been looking for this light with generator for awhile and I can't find it anywhere.  Bike Nashbar doesn't have it, neither do any of the other well known online bike stores.  Target, Walmart, sporting good stores, Sniders etc.  Nobody has it.

I found it on ebay for $49.  Wow.  What a deal.  I have to wait 2 weeks before I can buy it but I'm going to get it when I get some money.  Here is a picture.

I don't plan on riding at night unless I need something from the store and I need to get there fast but what I do plan on doing is riding early in the morning.  I'm talkin 5am early.  Yeah at 6am it's still dark but there are cars out on the road that early.  I'd rather get out at 5am.  This way I can get in as much bike time as I can without any traffic and any pedestrians.  I want to get my exercise in without any dangers of getting hit by a car hehe.  I haven't been on the streets in over a decade and I've already made a couple of mistakes and I need to relearn the rules of the road before I go back out there with the cars.  I think getting to where I need to would be a lot faster with no traffic too.

Holy Cow

Well Ron from Holy Cow Milk just came about 30 minutes ago with our yoplait, string cheese and bread.  I liked paying with PayPal because then I don't have to use any checks but because of that person who responded in my first blog for this company I decided to pay by check from here on out.  At least if I pay by check I don't have anything to lose because they don't get their money until they deliver the goods.

I really love having milk delivered to my house instead of having to get it from the store.  Actually their milk is more expensive than the store by $1 per gallon because you can buy 2 gallons for $5 which is $2.50 each, Holy Cow charges $3.50 which if you go to the store and look that is still a very good price.  If you just buy 1 gallon of milk you are going to pay $5 for 1 gallon of the Albertson's brand or the name brands like Foster Farms.  It just makes more sense to buy the Special Value milk for $5 for 2.

The thing I buy from Holy Cow is their bread for $1.50 a loaf, bread is expensive if you buy at the store.  They are outrageously expensive and with todays economy you can't get bread for less than $2.  The Albertson's brand bread at the store is $1.79.

I also buy String Cheese which is like .35 cents.  I've never bought string cheese so I don't know what that regular price is.  Yoplait is another thing I buy from them.  If you have gone to the store you will know that Yoplait is the most expensive yogurt on the shelves.  That stuff is over $1 each.  Holy Cow only charges .65 cents each.  That is the main reason I buy from them.  I can only get Yoplait when they are 20 for $10 at Albertson's which makes them .50 cents each.  So .65 is a very good price and I'd rather give the money to Holy Cow than the big corporations.

I asked Ron to give us some business cards so we can pass them out in the neighborhood, I suggested magnet business cards that people can put on their fridge.  That is a very good idea.  I'm sure they are more expensive but you have to spend money to make money.

Dell DJ Tweak

As I've stated in my previous blogs, when I got my Dell DJ Battery it wouldn't fit inside the case but it still plugs in and works fine.  The only thing is that I have to have it stuck to the back of the DJ with a rubber band and the bottom isn't on so I have to have it in a neoprene camera case.  I would've prefered if the DJ was in a case that has a clear plastic front like they make for iPods and iPhones that have elastic to put around your arm.  This way I'd be able to change the song.  I would just have to cut a hole for the scroll wheel that's all.  But this is fine.

I have a remote so I can pause, play, go to the previous song and the next, raise and lower volume and turn the radio on.  If I want to change whats playing I have to take the DJ out of the camera case.  Which is no problem.  I have 5 cd's queued up all the time and they are all newish and what I want to listen to while riding my bike.

Well, here are the pictures that I just took of the DJ with the battery on the outside laying next to it's case.  To see the full size of these pictures just click them.

High Seat

When I came back from my ride the day before yesterday I raised my seat up a lot but I guess not enough because today I rode my bike and I was still in pain when I got home and I noticed that my leg was still bending as I was riding.  Your leg is supposed to extend fully when it gets all the way down.  If your seat is too low it can cause an injury to your back and/or legs.

Well, when I lowered my seat I lowered it all the way then I realized how to raise the handlebars but I never raised the seat again.  Big mistake.

So anyway, this morning I thought it was high enough but it wasn't and I came home from my ride in a little bit of pain in my legs.  Not as much as before but I raised it even higher and got on it and it was perfect.  My legs straighten completely.  Hopefully tomorrow I can keep going past California Ave instead of turning right.

My goal is to get my muscles strong enough to where I can ride the bike for long periods of time but having my seat so low was counter productive to my progress.  The longer I am able to ride the more calories I will burn and then I can just go back on with my life.  When I was a kid, teen and young adult (in my 20's) I was very active.  Either running from bullies (junior high) or riding my bike to and from school, to and from work, to and from Hollywood via North Hollywood, to and from Simi valley via Canoga Park.  Point is I was active and active means skinny.  I never gained an ounce.  I could eat and eat and eat and believe me, I was a hungry guy and I never gained any weight.  So, hopefully, I can keep my eating habits but exercise it all off with the bike.

I also wanted to add that I am so excited to have my Dell DJ back.  I went too long without it and I'm so excited that I got that battery for $10 + $7 shipping.  I nearly bought the same battery from another retailer for $25 and another was selling the same thing for $50.  I almost gave up until I went on eBay.

Sanctuary

I was just watching a commercial on Sci-Fi channel for the new show Sanctuary.  They mention that they use green screen technology so the actors are basically in a empty room with green walls so they have to act as if they are in a castle or a subway tunnel which they are not then the computers do the rest.

I have seen the first 2 episodes of the show and I did notice that the lighting of the people was too washed out compared to their background.  I think if they are going to do that they need to work on that lighting issue.  It's a good show and I can get past that issue but it's kinda hard to not notice it.  I mean, that technology isn't new, they use it in movies all the time, you'd think they had all the kinks worked out for a tv show.

PlayStation Store

Wow I just read on the PlayStation Blog that the PlayStation Portable is going to get a firmware upgrade to 5.0 which will allow you to go to the PlayStation Store using the PSP to buy and download games, demos, wallpaper, themes etc.  All you have to do is sign in to your account and they keep your credit card info so you just buy something and you don't need to worry about entering your credit card info.  Which is actually dangerous unless you have a very very good password with at least 20 digits with random letters, numbers and symbols.

Ok so I just went to the PlayStation Store website and it says that the website is going to be down until late October cause they are totally redesigning the website so you can download to your PSP or PS3.  How will they make any money if their website isn't operational for 2 weeks?  LOL.

Wow I just read the full blog and they are also adding a full keyboard for texting instead of like a phone.  That's pretty cool and I can't wait for that.  It will make texting on the PSP much easier I think.  They are also adding a sleep timer that can be used for playing music on the PSP.  I am not quite sure what that means, maybe if you set it for 1 hour then in 1 hour the PSP goes into sleep mode so you don't waste your battery.  Like if you have to have music on when you go to bed.  I actually like that idea because I do like to hear music when I go to sleep but don't want it to run all night.

Longer, Harder and Uncut

Ok.  I rode the bike 2 minutes longer than yesterday so 17 minutes.  Actually it was 17 minutes and 23 seconds but whose counting?  (ME!)

I thought the ride would get harder because when you push yourself to go that extra block you use more energy to get there.  Well, when I got to Eye st. I decided to just keep going to Chester and I made it so then I was able to turn right and go back to 3rd.  It was actually easier coming home on Chester than it was going to California on H.  Maybe because I knew I was coming home.

Hmmmm, let's see, what is uncut...  Well, this blog is, there are no commercials.  So there :-P

By the way, going from Eye to H to California to Chester to 3rd then back to Eye was only 1.6 miles and I've been going 1.5 miles turning on Eye instead of going to chester while on California.  I know, 0.1 mile is not a lot and 2 min extra is not a lot but I started out with 15 min for 2 days then got to 17 min.  Who knows, tomorrow I might do 17 min again or I might do 20 min and 1.7 miles.  The point is that I'm getting my legs used to the work.  The first day my legs were in agony, I could barely move.  Of course today when I came home I could barely walk, I looked like i was an old man using a walker again lol.  But that's what it takes to get the muscles back into shape.  A little pain at the beginning so I can go the distance with no pain at all.  That's why they say "no pain, no gain".

I remember as a teenager riding my bike to school in the morning and not being the least bit tired from the bike ride, then riding home, putting my McDonald's uniform on and going back out the door on my bike to work.  When I got there I had no pain in my legs because I was so used to riding a bike that my legs were never in any pain from it.  I think because I was so thin back then helped my case because I have 100lbs more than I did 22 years ago.

Also when I was 22-23 years old and I rode my bike from North Hollywood all the way to Hollywood and I did that several times a week too and it would take maybe an hour but it didn't matter, I was never in any pain.  And I never had a water bottle with me because it wasn't that hard that I needed water.  Although now that I think about it I probably could've used a water bottle lol.  But that trip was uphill and downhill and curvey.

Oh and when I was 19 and I lived in Canoga Park I used to ride my bike once in awhile on the Santa Susanna Pass going to Simi Valley to visit my Aunt Betty at Ralph's.  That never even phazed me.  Although I was a bit winded, I needed water lol.  But I got through it no problem and the ride home was a breeze because it was uphill the entire way there so it was downhill the entire way home.

Today's bike ride

I did the same thing as yesterday.  I couldn't go any further.  I was looking at the street signs this time and it was 7th street when my legs started straining.  I only live on 3rd so that's only a few blocks lol.

Anyway, I brought my step counter this time because it has a stop watch on it and I did 14 minutes total.  And I was in the wrong gear by the way.  That's why my legs are struggling to keep me standing up when I get up.  When I realized the lower gear was a asset I kept it.  So tomorrow morning when I go out the bike will be in the right gear and I won't have to struggle to ride and maybe, just maybe, I can go further.

COLD!!!

It's 6:53am.  I woke up at 6am and have been waiting for the sun to come up before I go bike riding because my light doesn't work right and it kinda broke actually.  And I don't have a back light so I'm waiting for the sun before I go out.  The sun is coming up now though but I'm hesitant to go out because it's 43 degrees outside.  CHILLY!!!  But, I realized I have thermal underwear.  I hope that keeps me warm hehe.

True Blood on HBO

True Blood was a nice addition to the vampire world.  However, I'm not sure I like the direction they are going.  Last week at the end of the episode I was just pissed off that they killed Sookie's grandmother.  Her character gave the show real southern charm.  I thought she was a great character because even though she was an older woman she wasn't prejudice against the vampires like all the other people her or near her age.  And her curiosity for vampires is what got her killed.

I still like the show, I'm just a little upset right now.  Everytime I see something bad happen to a main character I think it's a dream or a prediction but then they don't wake up and it's real.  I hope they don't kill too many more main characters cause the cast is dwindling down very fast lol.

PAIN

Ok.  First off Chip woke me up at 6am because the pain was too great in his stomach and he needed to go to the E.R.  He told me he was having a heart attack.  He wasn't thank goodness.  The doctor gave him some meds for his stomach pain and we were on our way.  Ok that was Chips pain.

Now for my pain.  When we came home from the hospital Chip got ready for church and then left.  I on the other hand geared up for what I thought was going to be a long bike ride but turned into a 20 minute bike ride, if that.  I put my sunglasses onto my glasses then strapped on the helmet then put the ear buds in so I could listen to Gavin Degraw's latest self titled CD in my Dell DJ so the ride would be at least tolerable.

I go down H street from 3rd and I'm nearing the Catholic church which is like 10th street or something, I remember seeing 11th street as I was passing the church but just before I started to get near it I could feel my upper front legs just tightening up from the stress I was putting on them from the ride.  I don't know, maybe I wasn't in the right gear or something but my legs were in pain.

I had to push myself to get to California Ave though so I could say I tried.  As soon as I got to California Avenue I sighed a big sigh of relief.  Then I had to turn right and Eye street wasn't too far then I could turn right and go back to 3rd st.  Now keep in mind, I didn't go very far.

I finally got home, took of that hot helmet and I swear to science that my legs were in so much pain I was walking like an old man in a retirement home using a walker.  Flower was so happy to see me that she was jumping up on my back legs trying to show her love and trying to get me to pick her up but I could barely walk much less bend over to pick up a toy chihuahua.

I'm glad it's over BUT... I gotta try again tomorrow.  If I can get to California avenue and not be in so much pain then I can keep going, maybe to Truxton lol.  The song I was on was just track 5 so you know that I wasn't gone long lol.  Maybe tomorrow I will get to track 6.

This is a cropped image from Google Maps of today's short route hehe.  It was 1.5 miles by the way.

OMG!

Ok, we went to China Town Buffet for lunch and as we were leaving in the car I opened my fortune cookie and this is what is said:

Is that crazy or what?  In my previous blog I was so upset about my battery being 1mm too big, my bike case being too big and the pump gauge not working.  Then I get this.

I found a solution to the Dell DJ.  I strapped it to the back with a rubber band and have it plugged it, it's charging now.  I can keep the bottom piece off as long as I keep it from getting dirty so Chip bought me a neoprene case at Target today.  He also bought me a helmet.   I really have no excuses for riding my bike now to get exercise.  The helmet looks horrible though lol.  It's not that particular helmet, it's helmets in general because my face is so round and it basically shows off just how round my face is.  But, I have faith that in time my round face will turn a bit more oval and I won't look as rediculous.  I will have to get me a new pair of sports sunglasses so hopefully that will even my face out lol.

Very disappointing

Well, I finally got my packages today and I'm not happy at all.  The battery came way earlier than it should've and I was ecstatic about that but it doesn't fit.  It's too wide.  I plugged it in and it turned the Dell DJ on instantly but since the battery was dead it said low battery and shut off.

The frame bag is way too big, that's why I bought the cheaper one because I thought it was going to be smaller.  It covers my drink holder, where will I put my bottle of water now?  I could shove it over so it doesn't cover my water cage I guess.

The pump doesn't do what it is supposed to do.  Sure it pumps the tire up but the gauge doesn't show me how much pressure is in the tire.  What is the point of having a pump with a pressure gauge if it doesn't work?

I can live with the big frame bag, I can even live with a pump that doesn't do it's job (gauge).  I just wanted a mini pump and that's what I got with a bonus feature (that doesn't work).  But the Dell DJ battery, that one I cannot keep and deal with.  That one has to go back and I'm back at square one.  No music.

I was just thinking, if I plug the battery in but then strap it to the back of the Dell DJ with a rubber band then charge it, I wonder if it will still work.  It will be a little bit bulky but at this point I really don't care.  I just want my DJ back.

I'm calming down now, trying to find a silver lining.

My weight

Wow!  I just weighed myself and it's not good.  Of course most people would just not talk about it, they would pretend that it doesn't matter or the problem doesn't exist but I know the problem exists.  I was doing Spark People a year ago (I started on October 1st 2007) but something happened in my life and I just couldn't do it anymore.  I gave up dieting altogether even though I had lost over 20lbs.  I was so proud of myself and then I just quit.

I was eating the food but not exercising and I was in a plateau for over a month and just couldn't take the torture of having to suffer eating such small portions and so many veggies.  Although it wasn't all that bad, the veggie portions were pretty big but it was still torture to eat good and not lose a single lb.  But I wasn't exercising either so that's where I made a huge mistake.  I didn't step it up and help myself along the long road of losing weight.

My highest weight that I've ever been was 245 and I weighed myself just before I started this post and I was 243.  I'm just 2lbs from being right back to where I was.  I need this Dell DJ battery to come soon and the pump and bag.  I need them to come so I have motivation to ride my bike to get exercise.  I need the pump because it has a gauge built in so I can see if I'm pumping the correct amount or not.  Right now they don't feel fully pumped but I'm afraid to put too much air in because it will pop if I do.  If it doesn't have enough it may pop from my weight.  The frame bag is just a bonus to keep all the tools with me so I don't have to carry them.

The Dell DJ battery is a crucial part of this whole journey.  I refuse to ride the bike in silence.  It will be too boring and I will not want to keep doing it day after day if I'm bored doing it.  Of course I probably won't have to do it day after day.

As of right now my leg muscles are still not ready for a 2 hour bike ride.  It is ready for a 5 minute bike ride before I can't walk anymore.  What I will have to do is just ride for as long as I can going towards beach park where the bike trail is and when I get too sore then just stop, rest and head back home.  Just keep doing that every day or every other day or whatever I need.  I can't push my muscles too far because the more sore my legs are the less likely I will want to do it.  But I heard from a trainer that if your legs are sore, so what, keep doing it.  You don't want the muscles to heal fully, you want them to be sore because they won't get used to it unless you keep doing it.  Yeah they will be sore for a few days but once they get used to it they wont be painful.  It will become old hat.

Let's just hope that these items come to me soon, within a week at least.  I don't know how much more of this fat I can take.  I can't look at myself in the mirror anymore.  I have BDD so bad from this that I don't even want to leave the house because people are staring at me and judging me every day.  I just want to be back to where I was when I was thin.  Nobody even noticed me because I blended in with all the other skinny people.  Fat people don't blend in too well especially when their t-shirts are stretched out in the stomach area. Which reminds me, if this does work, if I lose a massive amount of weight by riding my bike, I'm gonna need a wardrobe change hehe.

New York county prints ‘Barack Osama’ on ballots

OMG Too funny!

New York county prints ‘Barack Osama’ on ballots

I just heard this on the news on the living room tv.  Only 300 people got this ballot with Barack Osama written on it and it got by 3 rounds of proof readers.  They said it was an honest mistake, no ill intentions.  Do you think it was a simple typo or if it was intentional?

Music

There is a website called Mp3 Fiesta that I go to get my mp3's for my Dell DJ.  They offer songs for .20 cents each.  If you sign up I will get $50 free in my account.  All you have to do is click this special link http://www.mp3fiesta.com/?user=2162407 and sign up and my account will be automatically credited.  Once you've signed up you can send this invitation to other people as well to get $50 in free music.

Holy Cow!

The Holy Cow! Milk delivery service came just before 7:30am with my groceries all bagged up and ready for me.  I wasn't quite expecting a regular car but more a truck advertising their business but what can you do?  I think they should have those magnets that you stick to the side of your car that has the Holy Cow name on it with the phone number and website address so people know.  They also now have that window lettering, you know like you see the stick figures on the back of the mini van or SUV's, they can put that on their cars that they deliver with.

When Ron pulled up to my house he opened his trunk and pulled out a milk crate with the bags of groceries in it.  Of course I didn't walk over to the car to see what else he had in there but it didn't look full of milk crates.  They need some major advertising ya know?

I'm very happy with my order but I think from now I will be placing a email order or phone call order then give the delivery guy a check.  Not that I don't trust them because of that one comment but because I just don't trust anyone lol.  What can I say, I've been screwed my entire life.

Good Morning

So I wake up at 5:30am to the sound of Chip talking as if it were daytime on the phone.  I go in there and ask him to keep his voice down that it's 5:30am.

Since I'm up I might as well stay up to try to change my sleeping habits so when I get my bike stuff I can start leaving the house at 6am (or when the sun comes up) to ride my bike for exercise.  It's easier when it's this early, there is no traffic to dodge to get to Beach Park.  Now of course when I leave there to go home there will be traffic.  But that's fine by me.

So, I go to make breakfast, a bagel with margarine on it, and Chip asks are you making breakfast?  I say yes, he asks what I'm making and I say bagel with margarine.  He says can you make me one with cinnamon sugar on top?  I say ok.  I start making the bagel and realize there is barely enough margarine to spread onto 1 half of a bagel.  I tell him that and he says ok, just put it on 1 half and cinnamon sugar then put cinnamon sugar dry on the other half.  It's been sitting on his stomach on the plate for the last 15 min because he's still chit chatting on the phone and not being able to eat.  I on the other hand have to wait until 7:30am now for the milk man to bring me some more margarine so I may have my bagel that I tried to make at 5:30am.

So much for a good morning.

How To Lose Friends & Alienate People

We went to the movies today and saw the movie How To Lose Friends & Alienate People.  First off let me just start by saying that my favourite actor now is Simon Pegg.  I loved him in Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz.

With that said I wasn't as happy with this movie as I was with the others.  From the advertisements that I've seen I thought his character was going to be a lot more annoying than he was.  I thought it was going to be pissing people off left and right to the very end.  It was a good movie, it just wasn't what I expected.

I do recommend this movie because it has Simon Pegg in it and he is a very good and funny actor and it was a good movie.

Unfortunately, it was in the tiny theater with the tiny screen and we were the only 2 watching it.  I guess it's been there for awhile or it didn't get high sales so they pushed it to the little screen.

Steve Don't Eat It!

www.thesneeze.com Steve Don't Eat It!

HILARIOUS!  I could only get up to the swollen corn.  I saw the pictures and was like I'm done lol.  I didn't have the stomach to read the rest.

Political Pumpkins

Today we were at the doctors office and I was thinking I wonder if I can find a John McCain pumpkin pattern to carve.  Then maybe 20 minutes later Chip asked if I could find a John McCain pumpkin pattern and I was like OMG I was just thinking about that today hehe.  So... I looked and found one.  He also wanted me to do this Hilary pumpkin for his friend from high school.

Wednesday Night Shows

Well, I've decided that if I can watch Knight Rider on the NBC website the next morning then I can also watch Pushing Daisies on the ABC website after that.  I would much rather watch Ghost Hunters from 7-10 then Destination Truth at 10.  Tonight's Ghost Hunters at 9pm they are going to be at the plantation in the movie Interview with a Vampire.  That's pretty cool.

Halloween Pumpkins

I will not be carving pumpkins this year live on webcam due to lack of interest.  And I won't be carving a real pumpkin too.  I have 2 tall and 1 small fake pumpkins from Michael's that I'm gonna put regular faces on.  I don't want to use a scene that I normally do because these pumpkins will last forever (in a landfill hehe).

Here are the patterns I'm thinking of doing.  I might change them who knows.  These are just the patterns so as soon as I carve them I will get pictures (of course) and then add the pictures to my Halloween page.

Video Game Videos

Well, I'm sure there are people waiting for me to make some videos of my video gameplay for YouTube but I just can't find the time between watching That 70's show and Reba reruns and watching all new episodes of my shows and it just cuts into my lounging time.

In allseriousness, with my carpel tunnel syndrome I've been laying off the games because it makes my hands so numb and then I have to stop the video to shake it off.  I'm also really into playing Lego Batman that I just got a couple weeks ago.  I want to get to know the game a bit more so I can do a very quick run through in level 1 so I can give an idea of what it looks like without taking too long to do it.  YouTube allows 10 min, that's it.  If you don't know the level it may take an hour just to get through 1 level.

So, even though I have a lot of games to video tape I will do it soon.

Kern Wheelmen Bicycle Club

This website might help me for a good bike route.  Bakersfield put in a bike path along the kern river beginning at the Mouth of Kern Canyon, the Kern River Parkway includes over 6,000 acres of trails, parks and waterways extending over 30 miles westerly to Highway I5.  There is a bike club that does trips which go out of the bike path which starts at Beach Park, goes for 42.5 miles in a circle and ends right back at Beach Park.  The bike ride to Beach Park from our house is only 2.7 miles.

Of course before I can do this ride I'm going to have to get used to riding my bike again.  Also all the people on the picture in this website are all athletes and they are all in shape so before I even think about joining their club I need to be as fit as they are.  I would lag too far behind these guys.

Well, this is the website address:  www.kernwheelmen.org

I hope some day I will be as skinny and fit as I used to be a long time ago.  I feel that I am wasting my life being fat.

EDIT:  I just went to the store for some Tuna Helper and I'm very happy to say that the ride didn't hurt my leg muscles like it normally would.  Which can only mean one thing...  that my legs are getting used to the exercise which is very good news because the more I exercise those muscles the easier it will be to ride longer distances.

Holy Cow

I'm starting to rethink this milk delivery service.  I got a comment about the Holy Cow service from "Disappointed Customer" about how her delivery guy Ron stopped showing up.  Her milk she bought was $12 but still.  If they did that to her they might do it to me.  I've already paid for my first order through PayPal but if it comes this friday which are the days I will get delivery then the next order I place will be through email and they will have to ring the bell for a check.  I don't make enough money to lose it to the milk man lol.

Dell DJ Battery

Ok.  I finally went to ebay and found a power seller who sells this battery for $10 with $7 shipping.  The total was$16.94.  I'm very happy that I bought this.  I was so worried I would have to pay $50 for a battery and then shipping on top of that.  Since it was so cheap, if this works I may buy another one or 2 just in case.

Nice Weather

Finally!  October 4th and it's cloudy outside and there is a chance of showers.  This is the time of year that I like, right when the heat is replaced by cold.

Dell DJ Battery On Hold

Well, since I bought the pump and frame bag for my bike I now have to wait on the battery for my Dell DJ.  In order to ride my bike I need stuff for it.  If my tire blows I can't pump it up without the tools in a bag on my bike frame so the Dell DJ is a moot point because the whole reason I wanted to get a new battery was so I could enjoy music while riding the bike, if I can't ride the bike then no reason for music.

There are a few other things I need as well like a new headlight and backlight preferably the kind that attach to the back wheel that turns on while you are riding the bike.  What can I say, I hate buying batteries.

I also need a bike shirt that absorbs the sweat and makes me cooler while I ride.  Cotton is so bad for riding a bike because it sticks to your skin.  It doesn't absorb the sweat and then dry while you are riding.  Ok, don't worry, I won't subject anybody to bike shorts.  Believe me, it ain't gonna happen.

I do need a helmet too though.  I know it's the law for teenagers but it's only common sense for an adult to wear one.  I tried buying one at this thrift store one time and Chip laughed at me and it was a very nice one so if he laughs at me then it makes me not want to wear it which is a very dangerous way of thinking because if I got into an accident I'd DIE!

Hopefully when I get all that I need to ride then I will be able to get a battery for my Dell DJ.  I just can't ride without music.  It's so boring without it.  I do have a solar charger that plugs into the Dell DJ so that's not a problem, the solar charger works as a battery.  But still, I'd rather have a proper battery.

O.J. Simpson Guilty!

Jury finds O.J. Simpson guilty on all charges

13 years ago today O.J. Simpson was aquited of a double homicide in Brentwood, CA and now he is found guilty on all 12 charges in the gunpoint robbery of two sports memorabilia dealers in a Las Vegas casino hotel room more than a year ago.  You could see his friend and 2 women crying as they heard each charge read along with guilty.

Chip says that each charge brings 5 years to life in prison and that's 12 charges which means he will never see freedom again in his life.  He is 61 years old now so if he makes it to the age of 121 he might be able to get off on good behavior.  I doubt it though.

Bike Necessities

I just bought some things I really needed for my bike.  I've been wanting a new pump forever that is small enough that I can carry with me when riding but with a gauge.  I found a pump at www.nashbar.com.  The pump was $20 which is $10 less than Snider's.

I also bought a frame bag ($10) while I was there to store the pump as well as the tools needed to change or repair a flat tire.  It's also big enough to hold a tire tube just in case.  The bag is in the shape of a triangle so that it fits right inside the frame.
