211

In this economy a lot of people who are normally on a low income like social security or any other type of public assistance or women who have a few children but no daddy for their children to take responsibility are under a lot of pressure now more than ever.  They just can't afford food anymore.  The price of everything at the store is so high, I can barely buy groceries.

A neighbor told me yesterday that he dialed 211 and they sent him to this place in Kern County where they gave him 2 huge boxes of food as well as a crapload of bread (like english muffins, bagels, bread loafs etc).  One of the boxes had an obsene amount of baby carrots.  The other box had canned foods.  I don't care how hungry I am, I'm not gonna sit there and eat baby carrots all day.  And all that bread was a complete waste because he has no freezer space to shove it all in.

At any rate, if someone is having a real hardship dial 211 and you can get help with whatever like a homeless shelter or maybe perhaps they might help you pay a bill so your electric and gas wont be shut off in this cold weather.  Or you just need some food.  Or maybe if you just cannot find a job because of the economy maybe they might be able to help you where nobody else can.
