Today was the day that EQCA stood in front of the California Supreme Court which by the way is in San Francisco to over turn Prop 8. I didn't watch it from the beginning but as soon as I realized it was going to probably be on TV we quickly looked for it and watched it.
I think we only got to see maybe 2 hours of it but it was quite informative. Well, boring really. It was very informative for those who actually understand what they were talking about. I frankly didn't know who was for or against it because they weren't even speaking English. They were all talking lawyer English which I don't understand. I would need to go to Harvard just to get what they were talking about.
The oral arguments ended and they left and we changed the channel to Fox News to see what they were saying about it which wasn't really much. Kenneth Starr was one of the people talking and I wasn't sure which side he was on. Kenneth Starr is the guy who wrote that report which was bigger than 3 of the last Harry Potter novels stacked on top of each other about Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky.
I did see Gloria Allred but she didn't talk at all and I was hoping she would.
One of the things I did understand is that Prop 8 isn't just about saying gay people can't get married but it's saying that it's OK to allow discrimination into our constitution and I don't think that any discrimination should be allowed into our constitution.
Anyway, I'm done thinking about it. I hope they come back with something positive for all the gay people in California.
EDIT: LMAO ok, I'm dumb. We just saw a news story on Fox News and they showed a little clip of Kennth Starr talking and he clearly said that he is against gay marriage. We sat there watching everything that he said and at no time did we hear him say what we just saw him say. That's how much we didn't understand anything that they were talking about, we couldn't even decypher when they were talking in plain English.
And there was a "man" named Shannon P. Minter. He was bald just like I am on top but apparently he lived his life as a woman for the first 36 years of his life. How could we have missed that? Good god, talk about ADD. You would've thought that I would've caught that. He was so convincing as a man. Wow, good for him.
