California Supreme Court

Today was the day that EQCA stood in front of the California Supreme Court which by the way is in San Francisco to over turn Prop 8.  I didn't watch it from the beginning but as soon as I realized it was going to probably be on TV we quickly looked for it and watched it.

I think we only got to see maybe 2 hours of it but it was quite informative.  Well, boring really.  It was very informative for those who actually understand what they were talking about.  I frankly didn't know who was for or against it because they weren't even speaking English.  They were all talking lawyer English which I don't understand.  I would need to go to Harvard just to get what they were talking about.

The oral arguments ended and they left and we changed the channel to Fox News to see what they were saying about it which wasn't really much.  Kenneth Starr was one of the people talking and I wasn't sure which side he was on.  Kenneth Starr is the guy who wrote that report which was bigger than 3 of the last Harry Potter novels stacked on top of each other about Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky.

I did see Gloria Allred but she didn't talk at all and I was hoping she would.

One of the things I did understand is that Prop 8 isn't just about saying gay people can't get married but it's saying that it's OK to allow discrimination into our constitution and I don't think that any discrimination should be allowed into our constitution.

Anyway, I'm done thinking about it.  I hope they come back with something positive for all the gay people in California.

EDIT:  LMAO ok, I'm dumb.  We just saw a news story on Fox News and they showed a little clip of Kennth Starr talking and he clearly said that he is against gay marriage.  We sat there watching everything that he said and at no time did we hear him say what we just saw him say.  That's how much we didn't understand anything that they were talking about, we couldn't even decypher when they were talking in plain English.

And there was a "man" named Shannon P. Minter.  He was bald just like I am on top but apparently he lived his life as a woman for the first 36 years of his life.  How could we have missed that?  Good god, talk about ADD.  You would've thought that I would've caught that.  He was so convincing as a man.  Wow, good for him.

Prop 8

Tomorrow is the day that EQCA which stands for Equality California will stand before the Supreme Court to overturn Prop 8.  Nobody should be discriminated against and what Prop 8 does is it puts in the constitution that gay people SHOULD be discriminated against.  This starts with being told we can't get married but when does it end?  Next they will say gay people shouldn't be allowed to have jobs and make a living and have medical coverage then they will say that gay people have no right living in California.  When does it end?

Gay people have been around since the beginning of time and I don't want to hear any of this Adam and Steve BS because I don't believe in Adam and Eve.  I believe in evolution and I believe that gay people were born gay for a reason.  I don't know what that reason is, maybe it was for population control, who knows.  But it's not a choice and I'm so sick of hearing people calling it a choice and a lifestyle.  You don't call being straight a lifestyle choice because it's not a choice.  You are either gay or you are straight or you are bisexual.  There is no choice.  But the religious nuts are choosing to take away our freedom because they don't agree that we don't have a choice.

Here is a video from EQCA showing men in World War 2 in concentration camps with their pink triangles in 1938.  That shows that gay people have been persecuted along with the Jewish people in WWII.  And they show a picture of gay men being arrested in the 70's and Matthew Shepard who was beaten to death in 1998.

Here is a 4 min 25 second video talking about how Prop 8 is discriminating peoples rights to marry.

I don't care if you are gay or straight, nobody deserves to be told how to live their life.  It wasn't more than 50 or 60 years ago that people of different races weren't allowed to get married.  All gay people want is equal rights and not have their rights taken away from them.

Most of America passed the right to marry but California, the state with the most gay people is banning it?  How is that fair?  It's 2009, why are we going back in time to when it was OK to discriminate against people?  We should be moving ahead instead of stepping back.  Walk a mile in the shoes of a gay person then see how fair it is to be discriminated against.

Reaper Back On

YAY Finally Reaper is coming back to the CW tonight. I thought for sure that it was a goner but then I heard it was coming in 2009. About 2 weeks ago they finally started advertising that it would be here in March and I guess time went by real fast because it's on tonight. YAY!

Xanth Now, Belgariad Later

Today I bought book 2 "Source of Magic" and book 4 "Centaur Aisle".  My friend Alyce who bought and mailed me book 1 "A Spell for Chameleon" also bought book 3 "Castle Roogna" and book 5 "Ogre, Ogre".

Since I've already read the first book I thought I should finish the Xanth series before moving onto the David Eddings books which have 17 books.  Xanth has 32 or so but I can comprehend the Xanth ones a lot better.  So as soon as I get the 2nd Xanth novel I'm going to start reading again.

City Tap Water

Normally I don't drink out of the tap because when you put water in a glass from the tap it's so white it almost looks like milk.  A very watered down milk actually.  So for that very reason I fill a 5 gallon bottle of water and I use one of those little water bottle things with the spout lol I can't think of the name right now.

But last night I went to get some water because I had really bad heart burn and I needed to take a pepcid and we were out of the bottled water so I had to use the tap.  We didn't have anything else to drink.  The tap water tasted so bad, it tasted like metal.  You could actually taste the pipes or maybe the minerals in the water.  Sometimes it tastes like garden hose water which is a really nasty taste but now it's like metal.

Didn't Erin Brokovich work hard to protect the people from this kind of stuff?  We have PG&E but this water is from the city of Bakersfield, not PG&E.  Maybe Erin should come to Bakersfield and help us out.  The water here is so toxic.  You know how they say when you go to Mexico not to drink the water?  Same applies to Bakersfield.  Only drink bottled water or if you are green bring your own 1 gallon container and for 25 cents you can fill it with the Watermill Express.  They are cleaned daily.

I like Watermill Express machines, we have one within walking distance from my house, it's actually a 2 minute walk there.  They have a sign up about how the filter process is and they filter the hell out of the city water.  It gets filtered so many times and it is so good.  And they service it daily.  We went to Sears and we passed it and there was a truck behind it and the Watermill Express employee was servicing it.

Speaking of which, I gotta go fill our water bottle.

Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

I like Jimmy Fallon so I'm going to cut him a little slack since this was his first episode however I do have to say that after the "lick it for $10" game I almost left the room.  But I wanted to see Robert DeNiro and Justin Timberlake.

The jokes were terrible during the monologue up until when the house band The Roots started singing with the news story.  That was funny and cool I guess.  Then he did a little game called "Lick it for $10".  Like I said that was almost a deal breaker for me, I almost left the room.  It was stupid.  The first contestant licked the top of a brand new never been touched so new it hasn't had time to accumulate dust Lawn Mower.  The next contestant licked the glass of the scanner part of a printer.  And the final contestant licked the glass of a fish bowl.  And Jimmy gave each $10.  Are you kidding me?  Stupid.  Wasn't even worth $30 if you ask me.

Robert DeNiro comes out and he barely even says a word and Jimmy is talking during the entire interview.  I'm sure Mr. DeNiro is a very private person and he probably doesn't do too well in this type of setting which is why he probably ONLY does talk shows when he has to promote something like Meet the Parents or something and even then I'm not sure he would want to.  He seems like a very nice person, he just doesn't seem too talkative.  Which is why Jimmy wrote 1 word response questions lol.

Justin Timberlake comes on and all of a sudden the show gets way better.  They are "talkin' it up" (SNL reference) and singing together and just having a fun time together.  I thoroughly enjoyed that interview because Justin Timberlake is always a good time.  Oh get your minds out of the gutter.

Then Van Morrison sings.  I couldn't understand 1 single word that came out of his mouth.  I don't want to hear 1 more Ozzy joke about how he can't speak a full sentence much less a full word.  Van Morrison used to be an icon in the 60's but now he's just... not.  I can see him coming on to the show as a guest to "chat" about how he had a career in the 60's but you know, beyond that...  And I mean no disrespect to him but I really didn't understand him.  I'm sorry.

I didn't care for this show to be perfectly honest.  If this is a prediction of what the rest of the show is going to be like I'm pretty sure they are going to beg Conan O'Brien to come back real fast.

My very first sentence I said I liked Jimmy Fallon so I'm going to cut him some slack.  And that's what I did lol.  I was trying to be nice.

EDIT: I watched this show a couple more times since I posted this just to make sure that I wasn't just being an ass about it.  You know, cause I might do a retraction saying that he was probably nervous or something and that he's doing better.  I wish that were the case but unfortunately he's not.  In fact he is still doing that lick it for $10 skit and it's as dumb as ever.  Although he did make one guy lick another guy.  All I could think was now that's what I'm talkin about.  Lick something gross.  Not glass or plastic.  Lick another person or lick something dirty.  He might get it right but the jokes still suck.  Although, the jokes were very good jokes, they just weren't told by the right person.  He made the jokes look very sad.  Sorry Jimmy.  I like you bro but you just don't make me laugh anymore.  The only thing that I like about your show is the interviews and the music.
