Emergency Room

We went to the store tonight and I bought a can of Slim Fast Optima because it controls your appetite for 4 hours it says. During the day I really don't have much of an appetite, it's typically after 6pm when my appetite comes at me. I will eat dinner at 6pm but an hour later I'm hungry again and I keep wanting to eat until about 1am and that's bad. You aren't supposed to eat past a certain time, I think 8pm or something. So I needed something to help me out with that so I bought Slim Fast. Well, so I got out my slim fast shaker cup and filled it to the 8oz line with some lowfat milk then I put a scoop of slim fast in it then shook the cup. Then I looked over at my blender and thought oh I should put it in there and add some ice to it and I got a real milk shake. So I went over to the blender and it's not a big blender. It's a 1 glass blender so it doesn't make a pitcher full of drinks, just 1 glass at a time. So I went to unscrew it from the unit and when I did that I unscrewed the glass from the blade instead of the whole thing from the unit. So I sat the glass down and grabbed the blade part and tried to unscrew it and I was turning it the wrong direction and completely forgetting that I had it plugged in, I was holding the unit with my right hand and accidentally pressed the button on it and it blended my left hand. Well, thankfully it didn't do a lot of damage. All it did was it made a half round mark on the palm of my hand, it cut deep enough into my skin that I had to go to the E.R. The cut near my index finger was superficial compared to the cut near my thumb. I didn't have to wait that long and I got seen and they cleaned it up with iodine and the doctor used Dermabond to glue the cut closed instead of stitches. It doesn't hurt or anything, I just gotta be careful and not get it wet for the next 5-10 days which is how long it will be on before it falls off. I was very, very extremely lucky that it wasn't worse. I could be missing a finger.

Neurologist

Well I went to the neurologist today for a follow up appointment. My first appointment was to find out what was going on with my hands. At first they started getting numb when I would crochet and I got to the point where I didn't like to crochet anymore or do any crafts for that matter. Then they started going numb for no reason and next thing I knew my hands were constantly numb. When I would crochet I got this pinching in my right hand and sometimes in my left hand too, that's when I knew for sure I couldn't crochet anymore. I told my doctor about 3 or 4 times which was in a row, everytime I saw him, that my hands were numb and he would tell me it's because of this or that or the other. So finally I told him that my hands are numb constantly and I get a pinching in my hands too so he sent me to the neurologist. Well I went, he gave me a prescription for wrist splints for both hands to wear to bed so I do. A couple of weeks ago I went to get the nerve test which means they wrap these wires around 2 fingers then they take this thing that looks like a stun gun and they zap you on certain spots for a few seconds at a time and the computer does all the work. So today was the follow up to that and he said I have a very mild case of Carpel Tunnel syndrome but because they are not numb all the time (thanks to the wrist splints) that I don't need surgery, in fact he said it would be the very last resort so I have to see him in 2 months to see how it's going. I'm really happy I don't need surgery and my hands are good again as if nothing happened.

Lego Indiana Jones

I got my Lego Indiana Jones for PSP game today and got a free t-shirt. This game is fun just like Lego Star Wars is. I'm really glad I got a PSP because it's so cool. I also bought some artist stuff at Michael's. I bought Cartooning Kit for Dummies and it came with 6 colored pencils, 6 markers which are basically the same colors, an eraser and a pencil sharpener. I was disappointed in the pencils because they were very difficult to erase. A regular pencil works better. It also comes with a little 5x7 sketching pad with 50 sheets. The book is lame, it's not even a book it's more of a piece of paper folded a few times. I also bought a book called Superhero Madness which has "45 basic lessons for drawing cool heroes and vile villains". It's pretty cool. They also had these booklets that were totally blank so you can create your very own comic book. I bought 2 sizes, a regular typical comic book size and a pocket book size. Each with 28 pages. I don't know what I'm going to draw in them but I probably wont use them for a very long time, long enough to know what I'm doing first hehe.

My Birthday (Part 2)

Well this morning I woke up with Chip singing the Happy Birthday song and he was holding a German Chocolate cake which was what my mother always made for me for my birthdays. He knew that, that's why he bought it for me. We went to the movies today and saw Iron Man which I really loved. Afterwards we went to Sears and Chip bought me 3 pair of cartoon lounge pants (pajamas hehe). His cousin Vedra and Venda gave me a black t-shirt with HWOODCATS on it and a box of Dewars candy peanut butter flavored. They are really good. Tomorrow I absolutely cannot wait to get my Lego Indiana Jones game for my PSP then we're going to DQ for blizzards which I have a coupon that they sent me for my birthday for buy 1 get 1 free.

MY BIRTHDAY!

Yay another birthday has come. This will be my 38th birthday and I've been bombarded by emails from all these websites that I've joined over the years wishing me a happy birthday. I really love it. However I know it's the "computer" that told itself to email me these standard birthday wishes, templates if you will that they send to all their members. In fact they probably send at least 10 or 20 of those on a daily basis. I don't mind the impersonal greeting from a robot and the fact that nobody except for my very good friend Chris has sent me a birthday card and I haven't gotten a card from my entire family. Maybe it's Karma since I forget everyone lol. That's ok, I really don't care. In fact I do much prefer getting a email greeting saying hey mike, I wanted to wish you a happy birthday. A e-card isn't required. It's the thought that counts you know? Now I do know for a fact that tomorrow morning I'm going to wake up with the phone ringing and it will be my aunt Betty calling to sing the happy birthday song in my ear. That is going to happen, I already know that. I can't wait. I would much rather get an email or a phone call than a present or even a card. I just want someone to say hi, I'm thinking about you today because it's your special day. I used to tell people on a daily basis that there are so and so amount of days left blah blah blah but I stopped doing that and nobody ever remembers anymore. Maybe that's my bad lol. Oh well it's cool. Tomorrow were buying a cake and were going to cut it in half and bring the other half to Chips cousin Vedra and then we will eat our piece and have an extra piece for dessert for later. Then on Tuesday were going to pick up my birthday present that I pre-ordered from Game Stop called Lego Indiana Jones for the PSP. And while we are in the mall I have a coupon I got from Dairy Queen website from their Blizzard fan club to buy a blizzard and get one free for me. That will be my birthday itinerary hehe.

Flower

We almost lost Flower today. We came home from an appointment and as soon as we walked in the front door I went to the bathroom and of course Flower was so happy to see us she followed me in and the door was closed and she was stuck in there with me. I got out and she left and went in the living room and I went into my room and I remember seeing her eating a treat on the living room floor. About 20 minutes later I was still in my room and Chip came in to ask me if I've seen her and I said yeah, the last time i saw her she was in the living room with you. Just then the doorbell rang, some guy was walking in front of our house and saw a little toy chihuahua walking around on the corner and he picked her up and brought her to us. OMG We are so lucky. She doesn't have a collar, no tag because Chip doesn't want to spend the $5 for a tag. She could've gotten hit by a car. She's not a very bright dog, there is no telling what could've happened. I mean, she let a stranger pick her up, that tells you how friendly she is and someone could've just taken her home with them. We could've lost her forever. Never take things for granted.
