I can do 2 shows...

I was worried when we got Digital cable that because we had to have a cable box that I would have trouble when I have 2 shows on at the same time.  Without a cable box I can record 1 show on my dvd recorder and watch another show on another channel by hitting the tv/vcr button.  But with a cable box, the dvd recorder only records what is currently on the cable box channel since the tv is always on channel 3.  There is no getting around that.  Forget being able to record ever again.

But, thank goodness for the internet because if I have a show on ABC and NBC at the same time I can just go to that networks website and watch the show on my computer.  Last night I had 2 shows, both on at 8pm.  Pushing Daisies on ABC and Knight Rider on NBC so I watched Pushing Daisies last  night then this morning I watched Knight Rider at the NBC website.

Unfortunately, not all networks do that.  Well, mostly they do but like the CW channel, last year I tried missed a couple episodes of Smallville and Supernatural and they had all their other shows on their website but those 2 they didn't for some reason.  I ended up having to download them via emule.

The networks that do have their shows on their website "on demand" they keep the current season on there from episode 1.  Heroes for example, when season 2 began they removed all of season 1.  Since season 3 has already begun they have totally removed season 2 except for the last episode of that season.  I don't know why keep the last episode, maybe so people can catch up first.

The point of this blog was to establish the fact that I'm happy I can watch my shows if I miss them hehe.

Hedwig's Theme

This is more of a note for me.  I recently bought a new Nokia 3390 (actually used) cell phone to replace my old cell phone and since my old one had this ringtone and the new one doesn't I had to search for the ringtone for the composer.  This is the ringtone that I had to enter into the composer:

Harry Potter Hedwigs Theme:Tempo=125:8.c2, 16#d2, 8d2, 4c2, 8g2, 4.f2, 4.d2, 8.c2, 16#d2, 8d2, 4b1, 8#c2, 4g1, 4-, 8g1, 8.c2, 16#d2, 8d2, 4c2, 8g2, 4#a2, 8a2, 4#g2, 8e2, 8.#g2, 16g2, 4#f2, 8-, 8#d2, 4.c2, 4-, 8g1

Just in case I need to find that website again or if I want to use another ringtone here is the link:

Update: Ok this sucks major big time.  The website I got this from is gone.  But, for me it doesn't matter because I'm probably going to be upgrading my cell phone soon anyway.  Most people don't have these old cell phones anymore because they all have iPhones or blackberries or whatever the latest cellphone is.  So, it's all good.  At least I was able to paste the song into here for future reference.

Our Return

We went to San Diego on Friday and came home today at around 1:30pm.  On Saturday morning, first thing, we went to the swap meet at the drive in movie theater and Chip gave me $5 and told me to get something if I wanted to.  I normally don't because they walk so fast that I can't keep up so I can't really look to see if there is something I want.

When we first got there we had breakfast at the "roach coach" - teriyaki chicken shish-kabobs and a cup of coffee.  Then just before we were gonna walk around, June went by herself because she doesn't want to feel like she is keeping someone from looking if she walks too fast and she doesn't want to be on the other side of that.  So then Butch asked if we wanted to go on our own and Chip asked me if I had the cell phone and I said yes.  I took it out of my pocket and it was not on even though I remember turning it on and it was charged.  I pushed the power button and it just would not turn on.  So, we ended up going with Butch since there was no way he could contact us when it was time to go.

We were walking around and I spotted these cell phones at this one booth that were the same model that I have, they had 2.  So I called Chips name because I had stopped but they kept walking.  They came over and I said I wonder if this would work.  All I have to do is remove my Simm card and put it in the new phone.  So I bought it for $5 and they high fived the kid who I gave the money to hehe.  I don't know why.  When we left the swap meet and got in the car I took the simm card out of my phone and the battery too and just switched them with the new one and viola it worked.  YAY new cell phone.  Well, not new because it's used and it's a 7 year old model but still, it works.

So then Sunday we went to chuch and it was a new church and they had this tv in the lobby which was huge and on the tv screen they had this thing on with this guy talking about how his 5 year old was in school and the teacher was teaching about gay marriage.  I knew right then and there I was not going in that church.  They all went in and Chip gave me $15 to go do something.  There wasn't much to do.  I walked around the block 3 times and that took up a whole 10 minute.  I walk fast.  So, I went to In and Out Burger and took 30 minutes to eat 1 order of french fries.  It's difficult to take that long eating something like that because they are so good you want to eat them fast but I knew I had to take as long as I could.

So, after that was done I just decided I'll go to the chuch and sit in the lobby and wait and there were a lot of people out there because the church was probably to capacity.  Chip said there were thousands of people there.  It's a big church.  So I sat there for an hour and waited for them to come out.

Then we went to the house and their family came over and we had lunch and had a birthday party for Chip.

Today we came home and Chip was having a hard time staying awake while driving because it was kind of a gloomy day.  But, we're safe at home now.

Dell DJ Battery a no go

Well, I got an email from that website about their Dell DJ battery and the one they sell is definitely for Gen 1 DJ's and that will not work on a Gen 2 DJ.  They said that people have bought it in the past and found it did not work and had to return it and pay a restocking fee.  This sucks.

They told me to go to 2 websites pdaparts.com or pdasmart.com.  The first website didn't have anything for Dell.  They had lots of batteries that looked like mine but they were specifically for iPods.  The 2nd website has a battery but it doesn't specific generations.  It just says "DELL Digital Jukebox, DELL Digital Jukebox DJ, DELL Digital Jukebox Series".  I emailed them asking if it will work on a 2nd Gen so I have to wait for their email.

The thing that really  bites here is that the battery from this other site batteryship.com is that they were only charging $25 for a battery plus shipping which was like $7.50 or something and it would've been more economical to buy 2 because they offer a 10% discount for the purchase of 2 or more.  So because their battery won't work for me I have to go to pdasmart.com and that battery is a whopping $48.

It just occured to me to check via part number and came up with 1 thing on ebay.  Someone is selling the exact battery I need and the starting bid is .99 cents and there are no bids.  I'm tempted to bid $30.  The auction ends the day before I get my check.  The only thing is if I buy it on ebay I have no warranty and no guarantee that it will actually work and not die within a couple of months.

Dell DJ Video

I was looking at YouTube and MySpace for video tutorials on how to change your dead battery for your Dell DJ and there are zero videos.  So, I've decided that as soon as my battery comes hopefully the first week of October I'm going to make a video.  I will demonstrate how to open the bottom of the DJ by prying off the plastic piece then unscrewing the tiny screws and pulling that off then pulling out the old battery and putting the new battery then putting it all back together.

I thought someone would've made a video by now.  Oh well, I guess that's why I come in handy on the internet.

Edit: I don't know why it took me so long to make this but I finally made the video for it today April 24th 2009.  Here is the post for it.  Enjoy.

Fidgit

Sci Fi channel has come out with a new website for gamers.  They seem to cover every platform, genre and every thing related to gaming.

www.fidgit.com

I try to look at everything for the PSP.  I just want to read everything I can about new updates and the future of the PlayStation Portable such as new features like when they added Skype and Internet radio.  This website doesn't seem to have anything after July 2008 and right now it's near the end of September.  I don't really see this being a major source of news for me for the PSP right now but it is nice to have another source of news for the game system I love.
