Google 411

I just got an email about this.  It's new Google 411.  Wow, is google going to start making cell phones next?  Oh wait, they do!  What about microwaves or television sets or dishwashers?

Well, this new thing is actually a very good thing.  Before I had blogged about 411 calls now costing $1 per call and that you can call 1-800-free-411 but you have to endure listening to a 15-30 second advertisement.  But, this is even better because there are NO advert's and they automatically collect you to who you want to call.  I've added 1-800-goog-411 to all our handsets in the house and to my cell phone and you should too.

If you have a cell phone with internet or with maps or whatever they will send you a map for your GPS so you can get there and/or they will text message you the information you asked for but you have to tell them that.  Oh it's also a recording so you won't talk to a person but their voice recognition software is pretty good so you probably won't have to.  Hey, don't bitch about it, it's free.

Call 1-800-goog-411 or visit their website at www.google.com/goog411

10 Speed

I decided last night that instead of getting my bike fixed right away or when I get money I want to go to the thrift store where we saw that 10 speed road bike for $20 and see if they still have it.  I've wanted to have 2 bikes at the house so if Chip ever decides he wants to go bike riding for weight loss then we can go together.

I also wanted a 10 speed road bike because that's what the majority of the people are riding on the bike trail.  I think that a 10 speed is a lot faster because it's lighter and it will give me less pain in my legs, I think.

I still want to fix the handlebars on my mountain bike but just when I get the money that's all.  I don't want to fix it myself because I really don't know what I'm doing.  You gotta take the rubber grips off of the handlebars first and I just don't want to do that because they have the roadmaster logo on them.  I also would like to just bring it in to the bike store so they can look at it to make sure everything is in good condition.

My mountain bike can keep the lock on it and the lights with the generator because I might want to ride that to the store (when it's fixed) at night and I'll need the lights and the lock.  But I will transfer the computer over to the 10 speed and the frame bag.  The frame bag really doesn't work in the mountain bike because the frame is too small for a frame bag.  I was barely able to keep my water bottle on it because with the bag there the water bottle was sticking out and I've been terrified that it would eventually pop out into traffic.

I'm actually looking forward to getting a 10 speed road bike because I think it would be easier to ride and I think I would go a lot faster which would mean that I would burn much more calories.  If I went faster I could probably ride the 18 miles in a lot shorter period of time and burn a ton of calories in the process.  And rest less.  Yes, I'm very excited about this.

All things falling apart

Well, it wasn't bad enough that yesterday I had an accident and broke my handlebar stem and stem bolt but when we were at the pharmacy today I noticed the arm on my glasses were loose.  I thought I just needed to tighten the screw.  When we got home I screwed it but it was still loose.  It's the type of arm that has a spring so you can push them outward and they go back to normal.  I guess it broke inside the arm.

I called the optomitrist I got them from and they had to order a new pair and it's gonna cost me $35.

Then I went out to my bike to see if I can bend that piece of the stem that was bent but it is way too bent for me to fix, the metal is too hard for me to bend it with a pair of plyers.  I went to pick up a screwdriver and my old .99¢ light fell off the chair and broke lol.

I went to go online and I had no internet connection lol.  Anything else?  Sheesh!

Spoke Magnet

When I came home from the E.R. today I noticed that the magnet on my front wheel spoke was gone (magnet for the cyclo-computer) and so I went to eBay to see if they had any and they had 1 for $2 plus $1.51 shipping.  Even though my bank account is running low, I have about $30 left, I took the liberty of making a $5 bid.  If I can avoid having to buy a whole new computer just for a magnet then I will.

There were other magnets on ebay for $7 - $9 but with shipping costs that would make them come out to be about $12 or $13.  The computer itself at Target is only $15.  I'm not paying close to the same price for a new computer just for a magnet.

If I lose the bid on this then I'm just gonna keep checking ebay to see if someone else has it cheap.  If not then when I go to target for the gloves I might as well just buy a new computer.

Biking Accident

I had a little accident on my bike today.  I was riding up a bridge standing up and all of a sudden the bike shifted gears and my leg slipped off the peddle and I fell on my left side which broke the handlebar bolt.  I had to call home to come pick me up then went to the E.R. and was told that I tore a muscle and I can't ride my bike for at least 4 weeks.

I'm not giving up on it though.  I'm sure it won't take a month because it's feeling good right now but maybe a week or 2 I can take it easy.  But I'm changing my bike route so I don't have to deal with any of the bridges at all to get to the bike path and back home.

It's frustrating that this happened because I've gotten myself into a routine and now that routine has been broken but I'm confident that when I can ride my bike again that routine will come back to me.

Too cold

I was going to ride my bike this morning at 9am and I got out there and OMG it was too freakin cold.  No way am I riding in this bitter cold.
