New Sewing Machine

Chip bought a sewing machine the other day at Sears because we really need one. I hate to sew things by hand. I have these pajama bottoms that have holes in the left leg for some reason. It's only the left leg in both pajama bottoms too, Anyway, I don't like to wear them because of the hole because everytime I put them on my foot goes into the hole making it worse. So I wanted to cut the legs off and make them into shorts. They would actually look more like boxer shorts than anything. So I was able to finally do it and the ones I did look funny lol. 1 leg is higher than the other. That's ok. It was my first attempt. I didn't use pins or iron them where I need to sew them, I just cut and went from there lol. Next time I will do it right.

New Afghan Project In The Making

A few nights ago I was watching tv, mainly flipping through channels and I came across a british comedy show on HBO. I don't recall the name of it but the two characters were in bed (twin beds in the same room) and one of them had a crocheted afghan on his bed. They were squares and I was able to see the pattern when they went close up on the guys face when he was talking so I pretty much know what to do. Each color was different and the squares all had a black border (used to sew the squares together). I thought it was so interesting and I have tons of yarn that are all different colors so I thought that since my hands are doing much better that I would do 2 squares a day until it's all finished then I can sew it all together. I'm sure that it will be finished by the time it starts cooling off after summer. And since they are squares I wont worry about crocheting for too much time per day because it doesn't take that long to make a square. I can't wait to see the finished product.

My Lego Indiana Jones Progress

Well, I've almost completely finished the Raiders of the Lost Ark part of the Lego Indiana Jones game. I am just missing 1 artifact in the 6th level. I know where it is but it wont let me get to it so I will deal with it later. I've unlocked the Young Indy level in the Artifact room which is a scene from the new movie. I just turned the game on and it says I've played it for 17 hours and 39 minutes. That is total time since I got it on June 3rd, what 7 days ago? Hehe 17 hours is a lot in just 7 days.

Emergency Room

We went to the store tonight and I bought a can of Slim Fast Optima because it controls your appetite for 4 hours it says. During the day I really don't have much of an appetite, it's typically after 6pm when my appetite comes at me. I will eat dinner at 6pm but an hour later I'm hungry again and I keep wanting to eat until about 1am and that's bad. You aren't supposed to eat past a certain time, I think 8pm or something. So I needed something to help me out with that so I bought Slim Fast. Well, so I got out my slim fast shaker cup and filled it to the 8oz line with some lowfat milk then I put a scoop of slim fast in it then shook the cup. Then I looked over at my blender and thought oh I should put it in there and add some ice to it and I got a real milk shake. So I went over to the blender and it's not a big blender. It's a 1 glass blender so it doesn't make a pitcher full of drinks, just 1 glass at a time. So I went to unscrew it from the unit and when I did that I unscrewed the glass from the blade instead of the whole thing from the unit. So I sat the glass down and grabbed the blade part and tried to unscrew it and I was turning it the wrong direction and completely forgetting that I had it plugged in, I was holding the unit with my right hand and accidentally pressed the button on it and it blended my left hand. Well, thankfully it didn't do a lot of damage. All it did was it made a half round mark on the palm of my hand, it cut deep enough into my skin that I had to go to the E.R. The cut near my index finger was superficial compared to the cut near my thumb. I didn't have to wait that long and I got seen and they cleaned it up with iodine and the doctor used Dermabond to glue the cut closed instead of stitches. It doesn't hurt or anything, I just gotta be careful and not get it wet for the next 5-10 days which is how long it will be on before it falls off. I was very, very extremely lucky that it wasn't worse. I could be missing a finger.

Neurologist

Well I went to the neurologist today for a follow up appointment. My first appointment was to find out what was going on with my hands. At first they started getting numb when I would crochet and I got to the point where I didn't like to crochet anymore or do any crafts for that matter. Then they started going numb for no reason and next thing I knew my hands were constantly numb. When I would crochet I got this pinching in my right hand and sometimes in my left hand too, that's when I knew for sure I couldn't crochet anymore. I told my doctor about 3 or 4 times which was in a row, everytime I saw him, that my hands were numb and he would tell me it's because of this or that or the other. So finally I told him that my hands are numb constantly and I get a pinching in my hands too so he sent me to the neurologist. Well I went, he gave me a prescription for wrist splints for both hands to wear to bed so I do. A couple of weeks ago I went to get the nerve test which means they wrap these wires around 2 fingers then they take this thing that looks like a stun gun and they zap you on certain spots for a few seconds at a time and the computer does all the work. So today was the follow up to that and he said I have a very mild case of Carpel Tunnel syndrome but because they are not numb all the time (thanks to the wrist splints) that I don't need surgery, in fact he said it would be the very last resort so I have to see him in 2 months to see how it's going. I'm really happy I don't need surgery and my hands are good again as if nothing happened.

Lego Indiana Jones

I got my Lego Indiana Jones for PSP game today and got a free t-shirt. This game is fun just like Lego Star Wars is. I'm really glad I got a PSP because it's so cool. I also bought some artist stuff at Michael's. I bought Cartooning Kit for Dummies and it came with 6 colored pencils, 6 markers which are basically the same colors, an eraser and a pencil sharpener. I was disappointed in the pencils because they were very difficult to erase. A regular pencil works better. It also comes with a little 5x7 sketching pad with 50 sheets. The book is lame, it's not even a book it's more of a piece of paper folded a few times. I also bought a book called Superhero Madness which has "45 basic lessons for drawing cool heroes and vile villains". It's pretty cool. They also had these booklets that were totally blank so you can create your very own comic book. I bought 2 sizes, a regular typical comic book size and a pocket book size. Each with 28 pages. I don't know what I'm going to draw in them but I probably wont use them for a very long time, long enough to know what I'm doing first hehe.
